Cusco – Perú
Cusco capital of the Incas, whose name means Belly of the world, Cusco comes from the Quechua word Qosqo.
In ancient times it was the capital of the Inca Empire and one of the most important cities of the Viceroyalty of Perú. Declared a World Heritage Site by ONESCO in 1983, it is often called the Rome of America because of the large number of monuments it has.

It is located southeast of Peru on the eastern slope of the Andes at 3400 m.s.n.m, in the basin of the river Huatanay tributary of the Vilcanota River. Cusco has many titles as the historical Capital of South America.

Temple and convent of Santo Domingo (Qoricancha)

As an important center of worship for the Sun god (Inti), the interior walls of the Qorikancha were covered in gold. In 1534, the church and convent were built on its structure. Its art gallery has canvases from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Sacsayhuamán archaeological complex
It is located 2 km northwest of the city of Cusco (15 minutes by car).

This ceremonial fortress or Inca sanctuary whose name means “place where the falcon is satisfied” began to be built in the 15th century and is considered the greatest architectural work that the Incas carried out during their heyday. From the fortress you can see a unique panoramic view of the surroundings, including the city of Cusco.
Qenqo archaeological complex
It is located 3 km northwest of the city of Cusco (20 minutes by car).

Stone construction adorned with sculptures and carvings representing felines, birds and snakes. In this ceremonial center the Sun, the Moon and the stars were worshiped. Furthermore, agrarian rituals were carried out in the semicircular cavern.
Puka Pukara archaeological complex
It is located 7 km northwest of the city of Cusco (25 minutes by car).

Rooms, plazas, aqueducts, watchtowers and roads give shape to this fortress that served as a dairy farm. It was a resting place for the Inca and the entourage that used to accompany him on his visits to Tambomachay.
Tambomachay archaeological complex
It is located 7.5 km northwest of the city of Cusco (25 minutes by car).

Religious center built in limestone where rituals were practiced to promote the abundance of water and the regeneration of the land.
