Itinerary

Day I: CUSCO / CACHORA / CHIQUISHCA

We will pick you up from the hotel at 5:00 am to start our trip to the city of Cachora (2, 800 masl). On the route, we will pass through different typical villages and also pampa del anta (3, 391 masl) east It is known for its agricultural and livestock production, as well as its wide pampas, prairies, fertile valleys and long rivers. All this makes the area an extraordinary landscape. Upon arrival in Cachora, we will meet our trekking team, muleteers, mules / horses and our staff will take all the camping gear and their personal canvas bags (up to 8 kg). After a short break and a light breakfast , We will start the trek. The first hours of the hike will be on the flat terrain until you reach the observation point and the pass of Capuliyoc (2, 800 masl) Then we will see the chain of the area, the Apurimac Canyon and the Apurimac Mountain . This river is long and abundant. It passes through all the mountains of the Andes until reaching the Atlantic Ocean. We will also be able to detect Choquequiraw distance. After lunch, we will continue with the trek, descending to our camp Chiquishca (1,930 m.a.s.l.) we will spend the night here, in the longest canyon of the Andes.

Day II: CHIQUISHCA / MARAMPATA

After breakfast we will continue our walk towards the beach of Rosalina (1,550 m.a.s.l.), then the descent through the Apurimac Canyon until reaching the river. Here, we can soak in the water to cool off. Then we will cross the other side of the river with the suspension bridge. Right after that, the most difficult part of the route will begin. We will ascend by a winding path that will take us away from the canyon in the direction of the Santa Rosa area (2,290 m.a.s.l.) approx. It is about a 3 hour walk approx. With a brief rest stop. Later, we will continue ascending to Marampata (2850 m.a.s.l). During our walk we will go to the great vegetation of the area in which the orchids have the first and most important place. You will also see violets: there is also a chance to see loved ones, anteaters from a distance and a different variety of birds. In this place, we are going to spend the night.

Day III: MARAMPATA / CHOQUEQUIRAW / MARAMPATA / CHIQUISHCA

After breakfast in Marampampa (2,850 m.a.s.l.) We will start our walk to the last place of refuge of the Incas: Choquequirao or “Cradle of Gold” (3033 m.a.s.l.) This route will be 1 ½ hike aprox.

Choquequiraw was designed with 9 zones. These areas were built as small towns that surround a plaza to which all the streets of each city will end. The following areas have been identified: upper areas (Hanan), storage areas (QOLQA), Plaza de Armas (Huacaypata), the lower square (Hurin), the platform system where crops used for cultivation (Shaqra Anden ), The ceremonial platform (Ushno) and the priests’ houses at the bottom of the hill. Due to all these findings it is presumed that Choquequiraw was a great political and economic center that has been used as a center of commerce and culture of change between the coast, sierra and jungle. It should be noted that Choquequiraw is also known as “Sacred Machupicchu sister”, due to similarities in design and architectural structure.

After this interesting visit and exploration of Choquequiraw, we will return to Marampata (2850 ma.s.l.) where we will have lunch. Afterwards, we will descend to the Apurimac Canyon crossing over the river through the Rosalina beach area (1,550 m.a.s.l.) and then continue Chiquishca (1,930 m.a.s.l.). Here we are going to have dinner and spend the night.

Day IV: CHIQUISHCA / CACHORA / CUSCO

Early in the morning, after breakfast at Chiquishca (1.939 m.s..) around 8:00 am approx. We will be ascending towards Capuliyoc (2800 m.a.s.l.) which will take 3 hours approx. We will continue with our walk to Cachora (2,800 m.a.s.l.) for another 2 hours more approx. Once in Cachora, our private transportation will be waiting for us for our trip to Cusco (3,400 m.a.s.l.)
